After careful consideration I have made the decision to run for Maryland State Delegate in district 4. There are several factors that played into my decision such as the fact that two of our three current delegates are running for different offices which leaves vacancies in our district. In addition, we need a strong voice in Annapolis, and I can be that voice for our municipalities in Frederick and Carroll Counties that I would represent.
I am currently serving as the Burgess (Mayor) of Woodsboro a role that I have taken very seriously and worked to better the town in the time that I have been in the role. In addition, I am also a Human Resources Business Partner for a large company. Being in the role of Burgess (Mayor) has weighed heavily on my decision to run for state office as I would not want to let the towns people down, but after experiencing the lack of involvement in the community from some that have or currently represent the district, I feel a change is needed. I can and will be that change if you elect me as your delegate.
As your state delegate I can help my town as well as the other towns in the district even more. The town of Woodsboro will continue to receive my full attention even while running for this office as that’s what I was elected to do, and I firmly believe that even if a person runs for another office the current one, they are serving in should never be neglected. I am not a politician, but in my career, I have always served others and that’s what a person in public office should do. I have worked in Human Resources at several large corporations for the last 15 years, and my experience in working with and assisting people from diverse backgrounds as well as being the Burgess (Mayor) of Woodsboro will contribute to me being successful as your next State Delegate.
There are several causes that I support and will work for in Annapolis and a few are:
- Education and School Choice
- 2nd Amendment
- Support for Veterans and their families
- Making Maryland Affordable for Retirees
- Protecting Farms and Farmlands
- Limited Government
- Support for our First Responders and Law Enforcement
Who am I?
I was raised in a small farming community in Southwest Missouri, the grandson of two Veterans. I settled in Woodsboro, MD several years ago after meeting my partner JR DeLauter who is a Woodsboro native whose family has been in Frederick County for 10 generations. Although I am not a Maryland native I instantly fell in love with state and particularly the town of Woodsboro and Fredrick County. When my job relocated me to Maryland several years ago, I knew this is where I wanted to reside and one day raise a family. I was and am still fascinated by the rich culture and history that the state and in particular Frederick & Carroll counties possess. I want to help preserve this charm for generations to come while also working to keep Maryland the free state.
I am currently the President of the Maryland Log Cabin Republican chapter that I helped found and serve on the board of the Frederick County Republican Club. In Woodsboro I am an active member of the Woodsboro Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Woodsboro American Legion where I am a member of the Sons of the American Legion chapter.
I am the oldest of 5 siblings and I often can be heard talking about my 9 nephews and nieces who are my biggest pride and joy. I enjoy having them come and stay summers with us in Maryland and showing them around the area. Family, both mine and my in-laws are very important to me and that is one of the main reasons I am running for this office. I want to help make the state an even better place for them to live and raise their families. I enjoy travelling, cooking, family dinners, grilling, exploring American historical sites, and celebrating the holidays (especially Christmas where I volunteer each year to play Santa for several different organizations to help children in need).
I never meet a stranger and everyone that knows me knows that our door is always wide open. There are very few weekends in the summer that we do not have neighbors, friends, or family over in the pool where typically I am behind the grill preparing lunch for them. The running joke is that we have the Bed and Breakfast in town.
At the age of 16 I found myself living on my own after my parents divorced. Being the oldest of 5 I helped to guide my younger siblings while also finishing High School and working full time. At the age of 22 I knew I wanted more and to make something more of myself, so I started college where I put myself through a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from Southeastern Louisiana University, a MS in Human Resource Development from Pittsburg State University, and an MBA from Salem International University.
I am an open book and welcome any questions that you may have. Please feel free to reach out to me via email at email@example.com or by phone at 301-401-7164. I firmly believe that anyone that is in office or running for office should have their contact information readily available for their constituents and ever since I have been the Burgess (Mayor) of Woodsboro my contact information has been out there publicly for all residents, and I will continue this practice as long as I am in publicly elected role.
