Patriot Day

Every year on Patriot Day we remember those that lost their lives on September 11, 2001, their families, and the first responders that answered the call that day. We also like to share the story of a lesser-known local hero: Woodsboro Fire Rescue Company’s antique ladder truck. The 1955 Mack Ladder truck was the only truck small enough to navigate the halls of the Pentagon where fires raged after the plane crash. When duty called, the Woodsboro firetruck was quite literally the little engine that could!
The Woodsboro truck now belongs to retired Hagerstown Fire Department Chief and antique truck collector Kyd Dieterich and remains part of our community.
